In modern skyscrapers, wind and seismic vibration control is one of the primary engineering challenges. To address the challenge and ensure the maximum safety of the building, for the first time in Georgia, two world-class technologies were implemented in Alliance Centropolis.
1. Wind engineering
The project was carried out by an Australian brand Windtech Consultants, one of the leading companies in the world in wind engineering, within which the wind tunnel testing was conducted in accordance with IBC2021 standards.
As a result, the maximum coefficient of the project’s vibrations and its impact on the facade was determined. Obtained recommendations were fully integrated in the building’s architectural plannings, ensuring comfort on each floor even during strong winds.

2. Water dampers
The Tuned Sloshing Damper (TSD), known as a water damper is an innovative system, used to reduce the vibrations in high-rise buildings, particularly during strong winds and earthquakes.
It is a water-filled tank, typically located at the top of the building. When the building vibrates, the water inside the tank begins to move in opposite directions, absorbing the vibrations and reducing its intensity. The technology uses the inertia of the water mass to enhance the building’s stability, making it a natural and environmentally friendly engineering solution.
The system was developed by a Canadian company Motioneering, which specializes in controlling the structural motions in high-rise buildings, now for over 25 years.
Water damper systems are only used in 10 projects in the world – Alliance Centropolis is in this list along with such famous architectural landmarks, as Taipei 101, Shanghai Tower and One World Trade Center.
